Americans Plan to Increase Spending

21% of Americans are planning to spend more in the second half of 2011 than the first half according to a study done by the American Express Spending & Savings Tracker.  This would be a 6% increase from last year. The study included various goods, including: appliances, cars, furniture and vacations. This is a positive trend that can be seen not only in retail, but in several aspects of American spending. >>>Link to full article

Housing Permits on the Rise

New housing reports from the U.S. Commerce Department were mixed, but one important figure stood out, building permits were up 3.2%. This is an important indicator of future home building and hopefully points to new development within the near future. In August, there were 620,000 units issued permits per the seasonal adjusted rate. These are the highest levels since last December. >>> Link to Full Story.
